Sisters Community Solar respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit communitysolar.org, join the Sisters Community Solar Priority List, apply to become a subscriber, communicate with us, or otherwise participate in Sisters Community Solar.
For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Sisters Community Solar,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Dwyer Rd Community Solar, LLC, the project company for Sisters Community Solar, and authorized organizations and service providers acting on its behalf in connection with the project. Neighborhood Sun serves as the subscription management company for Sisters Community Solar and assists with subscriber enrollment, account administration, customer support, and related subscription services.
Sisters Community Solar is a community solar project developed on land owned by the Sisters of the Holy Family in New Orleans. Together New Orleans is a project partner.
1. Information We Collect
The information we collect depends on how you interact with Sisters Community Solar.
Priority List and Contact Information
When you join the Priority List, request information, attend an enrollment event, or otherwise contact us, we may collect information such as:
Your name;
Email address;
Mobile or other telephone number;
Home, mailing, or service address;
Your church, congregation, school, neighborhood organization, or other affiliated institution, if you choose or are asked to provide it;
Your interest in Sisters Community Solar; and
Your communication preferences and records of your communications with us.
Subscriber and Utility Account Information
If you proceed from the Priority List to the subscriber enrollment process, Sisters Community Solar and its subscription management company, Neighborhood Sun, may need additional information to determine eligibility, establish and manage your subscription, and arrange for community solar credits to appear on your Entergy New Orleans electric bill. This information may include:
Name of the Entergy New Orleans account holder;
Entergy New Orleans account number;
Electric service address;
Billing address;
Information concerning your electricity usage;
Your proposed or actual subscription amount or allocation;
Subscription start, change, or termination information; and
Other information required by Entergy New Orleans or the New Orleans City Council’s Community Solar Program.
Providing information to the Priority List does not by itself enroll you as a Sisters Community Solar subscriber.
Low-Income Eligibility Information
The Community Solar Program provides certain provisions for eligible low-income subscribers. If you seek qualification under those provisions, we may collect information necessary to determine or document your eligibility.
Because this information may concern household income or participation in assistance programs, we treat it with particular care. We use low-income eligibility information for eligibility determination, program administration, compliance, and related purposes. We do not use low-income eligibility information for advertising or fundraising without separate permission.
Website and Device Information
When you use communitysolar.org, we or our website service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, such as your:
Internet Protocol (IP) address;
Browser and device type;
Operating system;
Pages viewed;
Referring website;
Approximate location derived from an IP address; and
Date, time, and duration of website activity.
We may also use cookies or similar technologies to operate the website, understand how visitors use it, improve its performance, and, if applicable, measure outreach efforts.
2. How We Use Your Information
We may use personal information to:
Maintain and administer the Sisters Community Solar Priority List;
Contact you about Sisters Community Solar;
Provide information about eligibility, enrollment, construction, project operations, and other project developments;
Help you begin and complete the subscriber enrollment process;
Verify subscriber eligibility;
Verify low-income eligibility when applicable;
Establish, administer, modify, or terminate a subscription;
Coordinate with Entergy New Orleans so that appropriate community solar credits can be applied to subscriber accounts;
Maintain subscriber and subscription records required by applicable program rules;
Respond to questions, complaints, and requests for assistance;
Communicate with participating institutions and community partners about outreach and enrollment, where appropriate;
Operate, secure, maintain, and improve our website and enrollment systems;
Prevent fraud, misuse, or unauthorized activity;
Comply with New Orleans City Council rules, Entergy New Orleans requirements, contracts, audits, legal obligations, and regulatory requirements; and
Protect the rights, safety, and property of Sisters Community Solar, subscribers, project partners, and others.
3. Email and Text Messages
If you provide your email address, Sisters Community Solar and organizations or service providers working on its behalf may contact you by email about Sisters Community Solar.
If you separately opt in to receive text messages, Sisters Community Solar and organizations or service providers working on its behalf may send text messages to the mobile number you provide. These messages may concern the Priority List, subscriber eligibility, enrollment opportunities, enrollment reminders, requests for information needed to complete enrollment, project updates, community events, and other Sisters Community Solar information.
Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out of text messages at any time.
Consent to receive text messages is not required to join the Priority List or subscribe to Sisters Community Solar.
Even after you opt out of promotional or informational communications, if you become a subscriber, we may continue to send communications reasonably necessary to administer your subscription, respond to your requests, provide legally required notices, or address your account.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
We may share personal information when reasonably necessary to operate Sisters Community Solar, including with:
Entergy New Orleans
Community solar subscriptions are connected to subscribers’ Entergy New Orleans accounts. We may therefore provide Entergy New Orleans with subscriber information required to verify eligibility, enroll subscribers, administer subscription allocations, apply bill credits, update subscriber records, and comply with the Community Solar Program.
We may also receive information or confirmation from Entergy New Orleans concerning customer accounts, electricity usage, eligibility, enrollment, bill credits, or other matters when authorized and permitted by applicable rules and law.
New Orleans City Council and Regulatory Authorities
We may provide information to the New Orleans City Council, the Council Utilities Regulatory Office, or other governmental or regulatory authorities when required or appropriate for program administration, regulatory compliance, audits, investigations, complaints, or other lawful purposes.
Mobile Opt-In Information
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, mobile opt-in information, or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may provide this information to service providers that assist us in delivering text messages or administering Sisters Community Solar, but only as necessary to provide those services. Those service providers may not use the information for their own marketing or promotional purposes. We may also disclose information when required or permitted by law.
Neighborhood Sun & Other Service Providers
Neighborhood Sun serves as the subscription management company for Sisters Community Solar. We may share personal information with Neighborhood Sun as reasonably necessary to support subscriber eligibility, enrollment, subscription administration, customer support, billing or payment-related functions, utility coordination, subscription changes or termination, regulatory reporting, and other activities necessary to operate the Sisters Community Solar subscription program.
We may also share information with other organizations that help us operate Sisters Community Solar, including providers of website hosting, online forms, database systems, email, text messaging, customer support, payment or billing services, data processing, professional services, and other operational functions.
Neighborhood Sun and other service providers may access personal information only as reasonably necessary to perform services for Sisters Community Solar or as otherwise permitted by law and their agreements with us.
Project and Community Partners
We may share limited information with Together New Orleans, the Sisters of the Holy Family, participating institutions, and other project or community partners when reasonably necessary for outreach, enrollment assistance, project administration, or responding to a request you have made.
We do not provide utility account numbers, low-income eligibility information, or similar sensitive subscriber information to community partners merely for general outreach or fundraising.
Legal and Safety Purposes
We may disclose information when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, court order, regulatory requirement, subpoena, or other legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sisters Community Solar, its subscribers, partners, or others.
5. Community Solar Program Records
Participation in Sisters Community Solar is subject to the New Orleans City Council’s Community Solar Program and applicable Entergy New Orleans requirements.
If you become a subscriber, certain information concerning you and your subscription must be maintained and periodically provided to Entergy New Orleans. Program records may also be subject to verification or audit.
Accordingly, we may be required to retain certain subscriber information even after you ask us to stop sending promotional communications or after your subscription ends.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Communitysolar.org may use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the website to function or that help us understand website usage and improve our services.
If we use non-essential analytics, advertising, or tracking technologies, we will manage those technologies in accordance with applicable law and our stated privacy practices.
You may also be able to limit cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the website function.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
The retention period may depend on whether you are simply a website visitor, have joined the Priority List, are completing enrollment, are an active or former subscriber, or are the subject of a legal, contractual, regulatory, or audit requirement.
We may retain subscriber and utility-related records for longer periods when required by Community Solar Program rules, Entergy New Orleans requirements, contractual obligations, or applicable law.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
No website, database, email system, text messaging system, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should therefore use reasonable care when transmitting sensitive information electronically.
9. Your Choices and Requests
You may contact us to:
Correct or update contact information you have provided;
Change your communication preferences;
Ask questions about information we maintain about you; or
Request deletion of information that we are not required or reasonably necessary to retain.
Some information cannot be deleted immediately because we may be required to maintain it for subscription administration, utility coordination, regulatory compliance, auditing, dispute resolution, or other legal purposes.
Requests concerning an Entergy New Orleans account may also need to be directed to Entergy New Orleans.
10. Third-Party Websites
Communitysolar.org may contain links to websites operated by Entergy New Orleans, Together New Orleans, community partners, government agencies, or other third parties.
Those websites are governed by their own privacy policies and practices. Sisters Community Solar is not responsible for the privacy practices of websites that we do not operate.
11. Children’s Privacy
Communitysolar.org and the Sisters Community Solar subscription program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13.
A person entering into a subscription must also have legal authority to enter into the applicable subscriber agreement and to authorize actions concerning the relevant Entergy New Orleans account.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in Sisters Community Solar, our website, technology, service providers, regulatory requirements, or applicable law.
When we make material changes, we will post the updated policy on communitysolar.org and update its effective date.
